How to Make a Peyote Beaded Star Tealight Decoration
Your complete guide to making Peyote beaded stars and adding them to tealights to celebrate any occasion
Who is this class for and what will you learn?
This class is designed for anyone who wants to learn how to make Peyote beaded stars into tealight decorations. I will be teaching you the basic techniques for making a six-pointed star, then showing you how to add this to a tealight.
- Watch video demonstrations of all the techniques
- Download PDF tutorials with step-by-step instructions and diagrams to show thread paths
- Full pattern tutorial with word charts as well as pattern charts
You will then be equipped to work from any Peyote star pattern from any designer. You will also have the skills to turn any basic Peyote star pattern into a tealight decoration.
What does the class include?
A full PDF tutorial showing you how to make the main star and add it to a tealight.
A full PDF tutorial showing you the techniques for adapting ANY Peyote star into a tealight decoration.
Bonus pattern PDF giving you three additional designs to sit around the sides of your tealight.
Links to other beaded star patterns that you can use for this project.
What beads and other materials do you need?
- Size 11/0 Delica beads
- Your favourite beading thread
- A standard tealight (the class includes my personal recommended brand)
What techniques will you be using?
As the name suggests, this is simple Peyote stitch. You will be learning how to create warped squares, and how to join them into a star.
You will then use circular and tubular Peyote to add your star to the tealight.
How does the class work?
You can follow the materials at your own pace. So, you will have a combination of video demonstrations, downloadable PDF tutorials, and also the opportunity to ask me for help if you get stuck.
Basically, this is exactly like a 'normal' beading class, except that you can work at your own pace, in your own time, from wherever you want.

Your Beading Tutor
Hi! I'm Katie and I'm here to help you become a better beader. Now, no matter whether you've just started out or you've been beading for a while, you probably come across things you don't understand or can't do.
So, that's where I come in. I've been beading since 2003. I was self-taught originally, so I'm pretty sure that whatever 'pain point' you're currently experiencing, it's something I've also faced and overcome. Which means I understand your frustration, but I can also help you to find a way through it.
My own beading experience covers a multitude of different techniques (beadweaving, French beading, bead embroidery and more!). I've published books, patterns in magazines, I even edited a beading magazine for 3 years! And I'm a qualified teacher.
All of that is very nice, but it's not what drives me. I am passionate about beading, in all its forms, and I want others to share that passion. So, my dream is to help more people, like you, to get the most out of their beading. That's why I set up the 'Become a Better Beader' group and why I started publishing beading courses. I've developed the courses specifically to address the things that people tell me they are struggling with. So, if there's something you find difficult, let me know about it.
