Everything you need to know to be able to follow any Peyote chart, whether it's flat, tubular, or dimensional

  Enroll in Class

If you've landed here, you're probably wondering whether this course can help you. So, ask yourself this...

  • Do you struggle with reading pattern charts for flat Peyote stitch?
  • Do you struggle with reading pattern charts for tubular Peyote stitch?
  • Do you know how to read a Peyote pattern chart for a dimensional project like a star or a box?
  • Are you someone who will only buy a pattern if you know it has a word chart?
  • Have you ever abandoned a Peyote project because you couldn't understand the chart?
  • Have you ever thought about asking a designer if they could create a word chart to go with their pattern?

If you said 'yes' to ANY of those questions, then this course is exactly what you need.

What will you learn?

I'm going to show you how to understand any kind of Peyote chart and how to turn it into a word chart if you find that easier to use.

So, we will start simple, looking at charts and graphs for flat Peyote stitch (even and odd count). Then proceed on to tubular Peyote charts and graphs. Finally, we'll take a look at graphs for circular and dimensional Peyote.

For each of these chart/graph types I'm going to show you three simple steps...

  1. How to apply Peyote structure to the chart, so you can actually understand it
  2. How to annotate the chart to make it easy to read
  3. How to create your own word chart from any graph

When you have mastered those, you will be able to use literally ANY Peyote pattern chart. So, you'll never have to abandon a project because you can't read a chart. You won't waste money on a pattern, only to find you can't do it because the designer didn't include a word chart.

Free Patterns included with this course

In order to illustrate the course and give you some practical experience if you need it, I have included the following projects.

  • Beadable pen pattern
  • Odd count flat Peyote bracelet pattern
  • Two tubular Peyote patterns for making beaded beads, a bracelet or necklace...or all three!
  • A Peyote star pattern
  • Patterned triangles, hexagons, pentagons and squares

So, that's a pretty good bargain...you'd pay more than the price of the course just to buy these patterns! With the course, you also learn a skill that will last you a life-time and enable you to make countless other projects too.

How is the course structured?

Each section follows the same pattern:

  • Introduction so you can see how much you know already
  • Me showing you all these skills step-by-step
  • You then get samples to try on your own
  • Answers for the samples so you can check that you are understanding everything
  • Free patterns that you can try and bead if you wish

You can complete the course in your own time. So, you might do it all at once, or you might take it in stages. You can complete each section in less than an hour (plus the optional beading time).

You also have lifetime access to this course. So, you can come back and revise any of the lessons at any time.

Most of us forget skills if we're not using them every day. So, if you have a break from Peyote, then come back and find you're struggling with a pattern chart again, no problem...just come back here and use whatever parts of the course you need to get you back on track.

What do you need before you start?

Now, this course assumes that you can already do the Peyote stitch technique. So, I'm not going to be teaching you the actual stitch, just how to read a pattern chart. (Although, I am going to teach you the techniques for creating all the circular Peyote shapes in section 3).

If you don't know how to do Peyote stitch, that's not a problem. You can start by using this free online course to learn whatever you need. You can also use that free course if you need any reminders while you are following the lessons. I have included links to relevant material for anyone who needs them.

You will just need a pen or pencil to complete each of the practical tasks. You should also have access to a printer so that you can print out the worksheets that you will be asked to complete.

If you want to go on and make any of the projects, you can. Each one tells you what materials you will need. But this is entirely optional. You will gain all the knowledge you need without having to do any beading.

Still not sure?

Well, that's perfectly understandable. This might seem like a lot of money to pay for a course. But, you are getting a fantastic amount of help and information here. Plus that lifetime access. So, you are gaining a skill that you're going to come back and use over and over again.

But don't take my word for it. If you keep reading, you'll see the full course outline below. I've given you the chance to try a couple of modules for free. So, you can judge whether this is going to be useful and whether it will be a style of learning that you're going to enjoy.

If it is, then what are you waiting for? There's no time like the present to start learning how to read Peyote charts!

Your Beading Tutor

Katie Dean

Hi! I'm Katie and I'm here to help you become a better beader. Now, no matter whether you've just started out or you've been beading for a while, you probably come across things you don't understand or can't do.

So, that's where I come in. I've been beading since 2003. I was self-taught originally, so I'm pretty sure that whatever 'pain point' you're currently experiencing, it's something I've also faced and overcome. Which means I understand your frustration, but I can also help you to find a way through it.

My own beading experience covers a multitude of different techniques (beadweaving, French beading, bead embroidery and more!). I've published books, patterns in magazines, I even edited a beading magazine for 3 years! And I'm a qualified teacher.

All of that is very nice, but it's not what drives me. I am passionate about beading, in all its forms, and I want others to share that passion. So, my dream is to help more people, like you, to get the most out of their beading. That's why I set up the 'Become a Better Beader' group and why I started publishing beading courses. I've developed the courses specifically to address the things that people tell me they are struggling with. So, if there's something you find difficult, let me know about it.

You can also access hundreds of free informational blogs about beading and join the 'Better Beader' group at www.myworldofbeads.com.
